Lynn Schockmel just came back from the World Bodypainting Festival (WBF) 2013, a bodypainting festival and competition which is held every year in Austria. It is a celebration of body painting and an experience space filled with music, shows and experimental performances. The festival is attended by world-famous artists and amateurs of 50 nations and attracts over 30,000 spectators.
Lynn Schockmel states being satisfied about the result
The incredible works of art take up to 6 hours to complete during the competitions of the World Bodypainting Festival. The themes of the 2013 edition were “Planet Food” for the first round and “Holy Geometry” in the finals.
Lynn didn't expect to make it to the finals. That's why she prepared the first design more precisely than the second piece. To her big surprise she ended up 18th in the first round with her Thai-inspired piece worn by her beautiful Luxembourg based model Michaela Zamborova. The Top 30 artists of the first round are pre-selected to the finals. So yeah, she did it for the first time! Unfortunately she struggled a lot with the second design and changed some elements at the last moment. She wasn't satisfied with the end result, but there was no way back, she had to show her work to the jury. She learnt it the hard way and dropped down to the 30th place. Lynn experienced an emotional roller-coaster this year from happiness over proudness to disappointment and frustration. Nonetheless, she learnt a lot and became stronger after this rich experience. She is satisfied about the overall result, which is a huge progress from the last year. Lynn's designs for the World Bodypainting Festival 2013
